Hair loss can be very stressful, and it’s not always clear where to begin or which products to choose.

Hair Loss Protocol
The method I personally used
The first thing to understand about hair loss is that the scalp needs to be prepared before starting an anti-hair loss treatment.
If the scalp is unbalanced, anti-hair loss treatments tend to be much less effective.
Before beginning a treatment program, it is therefore very important to make sure the scalp is healthy and stable.
Step 1
Evaluate the condition of your scalp
Before starting any anti-hair loss treatment, ask yourself a simple question:
Is my scalp healthy?
Certain signs indicate that the scalp needs to be rebalanced first:
- itching
- dandruff
- unusual sensitivity
- very oily scalp
- general discomfort
If you notice one or more of these symptoms, the first step should be to rebalance the scalp before starting a hair-loss treatment.
Step 2
Rebalance the scalp
Recommended products :
- Kérastase Potentialiste Serum
- Kérastase Bain Divalent Shampoo
Routine :
Applying Potentialiste Serum
The serum can be applied :
- in the morning or in the evening
- always on a dry scalp
If you have just washed your hair :
It is important to dry the scalp before applying the serum to ensure proper absorption.
After applying :
- allow the product to absorb for 3–4 minutes
Then :
- gently brush the scalp to stimulate circulation.
Once per week :
Add the Kerastase Energizing Scrub.
This treatment helps to:
- remove impurities
- purify the scalp
- improve the effectiveness of treatments.
Shampoo
If the scalp is oily or unbalanced, I recommend :
- Kérastase Bain Divalent for first shampoo
Second shampoo :
- a shampoo adapted to your hair type.
Duration of this phase
Continue this step until the scalp improves:
- less itching
- fewer flakes
- a more comfortable scalp
In most cases, this takes about 2 to 3 weeks.
However, even once symptoms disappear, I recommend continuing the routine for the same amount of time again.
Example:
- improvement after 2 weeks → continue for another 2 weeks
- improvement after 3 weeks → continue for another 3 weeks
This allows the scalp to become fully stabilized.
Step 3
Start with the Anti-Breakage Serum
Once the scalp is balanced, you can begin the treatment:
- Kérastase Genesis Anti-Breakage Serum
Application
The treatment should be applied:
- in the morning
- on a dry scalp
Why in the morning?
Because the formula contains caffeine, which helps stimulate micro-circulation in the scalp.
If you have just washed your hair :
make sure the scalp is dry before applying.
My application method (very important)
In my videos, I demonstrate an application method that I personally use and teach my clients.
Instead of applying the pipette directly onto the scalp, I recommend:
- placing the product on your fingertips
- applying the serum to the scalp with your fingers
- gently massaging from the hairline toward the crown of the head
Why?
Applying the pipette directly onto the scalp often:
- causes the product to run into the hair
- leads to unnecessary product waste
- distributes the product unevenly.
Using your fingers allows:
- the product to stay on the scalp
- more precise distribution
- stimulation of circulation at the same time.
This technique often leads to better results with the same amount of product.
Recommended shampoo during the treatment
During the anti-hair loss treatment, I recommend:
- Kérastase Bain Hydra-Fortifiant
or
- Kérastase Bain Nutri-Fortifiant
Duration of the treatment
One important point :
A bottle should last approximately 6 to 8 weeks.
If your bottle lasts much longer, it often means you are not applying enough product.
Pro tip :
A small tip I often share with my clients concerns the shelf life of cosmetic products once opened.
Hair and skincare products have a limited stability once opened.
You may already have an anti-hair loss treatment at home and be wondering whether it’s still effective.
My advice :
When you open a bottle, write the month and year of opening directly on the bottle with a Sharpie.
In most cases, active ingredients remain stable for about 12 months after opening.
After this period, the stability of the ingredients may decrease and the product may become less effective.
That’s why I generally do not recommend using products that have been open for more than one year.
What to expect during the treatment
If you’re experiencing significant hair loss, you may notice hair continuing to shed at the beginning.
This is normal.
Over time, you should notice:
- less hair in the shower
- less hair in your brush
- a gradual reduction in hair shedding
Results usually appear gradually week after week.
My personal experience
Personally, I used this treatment daily and still use it today.
In cases of significant hair loss, I usually recommend :
2 to 3 bottles (which represents about 4 to 6 months of treatment)
Long-term maintenance
Once hair loss has stabilized :
Here is the routine I personally follow.
During the week
On weekends
- 2 days of Potentialiste to maintain scalp balance
Seasonal maintenance :
At every seasonal change, or whenever you feel your scalp becoming unbalanced, I recommend doing 2 to 4 weeks of Potentialiste serum.
This helps:
- stabilize the scalp
- prevent imbalances
- maintain an environment favorable for hair regrowth
Washing frequency
Ideally:
- wash your hair every 2 to 3 days
and use the scrub about every two weeks.
